Tempo

Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2026

1. Overview

Tempo is a privacy-first interval timer. We built it under a simple principle: your workout data is yours, and it should stay that way. This Privacy Policy explains what information Tempo accesses, how it is used, and what choices you have.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

Tempo currently does not require you to create an account. If optional account features are introduced later, we will update this policy before collecting account-related personal information. Today, we do not collect, store, or process any of the following:

  • Your name, email address, phone number, or any contact information
  • Health or fitness data
  • Location data
  • Device identifiers or advertising IDs
  • Analytics, usage statistics, or crash reports
  • Cookies or tracking pixels

3. Information Stored Locally on Your Device

All data created while using Tempo is stored locally on your device using your operating system's secure storage mechanisms (localStorage on the web layer, which maps to on-device storage in the native app). This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly back up your device through your operating system's standard backup service (e.g., iCloud or Google Drive).

The following data is stored locally:

  • App preferences — Your chosen theme (light or dark) and whether native workout cues are enabled.
  • Timer settings — Your current interval configuration (prepare time, work time, rest time, number of rounds) and routine name.
  • Saved routines — Any custom workout routines you create and save, including their names and timer configurations.
  • Sound settings — Your per-cue sound preferences, volume levels, and warning timing.

4. Network Requests

Tempo makes a single outbound network request totempo.madsoftware.co to check the current app version against our published mobile version policy. This request does not send personal information, device identifiers, workout data, analytics, or usage data. If the app is offline or the endpoint is unreachable, Tempo skips the check and continues working so you can train without internet access. If the endpoint is reachable and your installed build is below the minimum supported version, Tempo may require an update before continuing.

5. Native Permissions

Tempo may request the following permissions, depending on your device and usage:

  • Local Notifications— Requested only when you enable "Workout cues" in the app settings. These notifications are scheduled locally on your device and are used solely to deliver audio and haptic cues while the app is backgrounded during a workout. No notification content is sent to any server.
  • Haptics — Used to provide physical feedback during phase changes and button presses. This is processed entirely on-device.

6. Third-Party Services

Tempo does not currently integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. We do not use Firebase Analytics, Google Analytics, Mixpanel, or any similar service in the current release. If we add advertising, analytics, or other monetization services later, we will update this Privacy Policy and any required app store disclosures before shipping that change.

7. Data Retention and Deletion

Because all data is stored locally on your device, you retain full control over it. You can delete all app data at any time by:

  • Uninstalling the app from your device
  • Clearing the app's storage through your device settings
  • Deleting individual saved routines within the app

If you use your device's operating system backup service (such as iCloud or Google Drive), your app data may be included in those backups. Deleting the app data from your device will not automatically remove it from existing backups. You must manage backup data separately through your device or cloud provider settings.

8. Children's Privacy

Tempo is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with information, please contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. If we make material changes, we will update the app to reflect the new policy.
